Half the size of JPEG, support for up to 14 bits per component:

http://bellard.org/bpg/bpg_spec.txt

Could BPG replace JPEG as the "lightweight" companion to EXR for our types of applications?

None of which would happen quickly of course.

I guess its no surprise considering the original scope of the Carlyle Group purchase was limited time and it follows suit with The Mill.

Hi folks,

I asked before when PPro 8.1 was new.. Im still seeing an annoying number of not-enough-application-memory conditions since Premiere 8.1 on my Macs with AJA devices (Kona 3Gs, ioXTs).

Anybody else seeing this, now that its been out for a while?

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Blackmagic Ultrascope? One of our Tektronix rasterizers stopped working and the repair bill is half the cost of a new unit so I'm looking at alternatives. Are these things worth a try?

Thanks!

Anyone running this setup and have any feedback? Was thinking of turning a few MBP's we have lying around into workstations by giving them an external GPU. I haven't seem many attempts at external GPU's over TB on OSX, which surprises me because the lack of CUDA on the garbage cans.

Ive noticed that within the past couple years ppl have been calling and claiming to have spoken to me days earlier.

Of course its a farce but I usually avoid the call or sometimes call em on it.

My advise to sales ppl on this forum; honesty is the best policy as that tactic guarantees a No, from me %100.

I realize sales is tough but guess what, making money in general is tough.

mentalray for maya on centos

Hi There,

We are running into problems trying to get the licensing working with the mayatomr on out centos render nodes.

running : /usr/autodesk/maya2014-x64/bin/Render -r mr -s 1 -e 1 -b 1 -v 6 /tmp/test/ball_mr.ma

errors with:

maya: License was not obtained

License method:
environment variable MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD='network'

Product choice:
environment variable MAYA_LICENSE='657e1'

License file override:
environment variable MAYA_ALT_EN is not set

I know that mayabatch mode and maya software renderer work correctly, but when we try to render with mentalray it fails.

we are running maya2014 sp3, on CentOS release 6.5 (Final)

I know that the "/var/opt/Autodesk/Adlm/Maya2014/MayaConfig.pit" was created correctly from our licensing info.

Please let me know if there is anymore information i can provide.

Cheers

Kym

Anyone play around with seafile, pydio or owncloud? Any security or encryption concerns?
