M4000 & driver version for Maya 2015
posted by Tommy Asbee on July 18, 2016, 4:06 p.m. (2 days ago)
Hi All,

I was wondering if people had a M4000 driver version that they are happy for your Maya workstations.

I've checked the Nvidia site and they do not have a "certified" driver for the card.

Thanks!

Academy survey on Open Source Software
posted by David Morin on July 18, 2016, 4:06 p.m. (2 days ago)

Hello Studiosysadmins,

Today I write on behalf of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Science and Technology Council, to ask for your participation in an important survey on the use of open source software in the motion picture industry.

To understand the goal of this survey, please read the introduction letter on page 1 of the survey, by clicking on the link below. After reading the letter and if you choose to proceed, the survey itself is 10 questions long and should take about 5 to 10 minutes of your time - although you do have the option to write longer answers beyond the choices provided, which may then take you longer.

You can access the survey using this link: https://www.research.net/r/scitech-oss

Any questions do not hesitate to ask on this thread or contact me offline if you prefer.

Thank you – David

I'm organizing a dinner on the Glendale/Burbank border for Sysadmin Day: http://www.meetup.com/lopsala/events/232611782/

it's a "by sysadmins, for sysadmins" sort of deal. Just dinner and swapping war stories usually. :-)

Best,

Somebody shared one last year and was super helpful.

Bit off topic for SSA but relevant and very interesting. Podcast about storage and compute for real-time voice recognition (think Siri). There's a lot of parallels to our kinds of workflows.

http://silvertonconsulting.com/gbos2/2016/06/16/33-greybeards-talk-hpc-storage-with-frederic-van-haren-founder-highfens-formerly-sr-director-of-hpc-at-nuance/

At one point they had a 24000 disks worth of HP MSA RAID shelves running GPFS. GPFS's metadata was being handled by an "MDC" comprising of a 70 node Hadoop compute cluster... The mind boggles.

Looking for a projection screen vendor / installer. I'm looking at a specific Stewart Film Screen but the vendor Stewart recommended seems to only have experience with churches and schools. I'd like to find someone has has dealt with real screening rooms.

Anyone got a solid recommend?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hey guys, been rummaging through old threads, but cant seem to find it, however I am looking for anyone who may have made grafana dashboards get pushed to a chromecast, or know of anyone who has a technique of pushing to chromecast without having to have a dedicated system polling its screen to send to the unit.

NUKE Localisation settings.

Hey guys,
Hoping someone has ran into this issue.
Not seeing alot of documentation on this, so it feels a little half baked. But here is what I am looking for:

In Nuke 10 the Localize feature allows you to set a value to the storage limit on your disk, be specifying a hard number or a negative number to say, use all space but X.
You can see in Nuke 10 that knob feature is available in the API so you can set it in scripts etc.
My issue is, though in Nuke 9.0v8 they have localization, and they even have the ability to set the Max size, however there is no knob exposed.
But my bigger issue is, I cant even find where, in what config, that data is being saved in Nuke 9? Ive checked, the users .nuke folder, %appdata% Local and Roaming, Programdata, everywhere and I cant find the location where it is saving this info, because if you do modify the parameter, and quit, and re open, it has the info saved. Just no idea where.
Does any one know where and how this data can be set outside of the GUI?

Top image is NUKE10

Lower image is NUKE9

Just went back over this question again on old SSA traffic and at the time (back in 2013) Spikes was the solution raved about.

Is this still the case? Many of you still using it?
