Red Epic R3D files and After Effects CS5

By Aled Jones - An Artist is unable to import recently shot footage on a Red Epic into After Effects Cs5.

I'm only able to find the importer for CS5.5 and CS6.

Can anyone confirm that I'm guessing it can't be done without upgrading After Effects or transposing the Red files?

Aled

Workstation rentals New York

By David Lennox - Good morning all, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out? I might need to hire 4 CG workstations for our New York office. Preloaded with Softimage 2013 would be a HUGE bonus (no worries if not I can always sort something out here). Is there anyone who rents workstations in New York that you can recommend? Looking for Z820's with at least 16GB ram and decent graphics card. If anyone has any suggestions/recommendations that would be fantastic! Trustworthy SMS gateway provider in the UK?

0
0
By Cal Sawyer - Hi, y'all

I need to set up SMS messaging to improve the delivery of critical alerts from our monitoring system.  Email is ineffective and i can't/won't set up a wireless GSM modem because mobile reception in our basement office is sketchy at best and unreliable in the server room.  Is anyone using a (hopefully free) email-SMS or SMPP-SMS gateway in the UK that you'd recommend?  The trustworthy bit comes in because i don't want someone scooping destination mobile#s for spamlists or snooping our outgoing texts

thanks!

capturing gaming setups

By Drew Rosen - Hi All.

I'm curious to see if anyone has a gaming capture configuration that gives them great joy? We have been playing with FRAPS for local hard drive capture, as well as using Final Cut to capture via HDMI. Both methods are pretty wonky.

The Atomos Ninja appears to be an interesting solution, but I'm hoping someone might know of a uber smooth way to capture gaming footage to a clean file.

Thanks!

10 gig ethernet on Macs

By Anonymous - Hi, Has anyone successfully deployed any ATTO 10 Gbase-T NICs on OS X 10.8.4? Any gotchas? I'm having the darndest time getting any performance out of them (running through a Dell 8024 switch, getting a whopping 70 MB/sec!?!). I'm guessing it's something simple that I'm doing incorrectly, but I haven't found what it is yet :-( Thanks, -- Antoine Durr To unsubscribe from the list send a blank e-mail to mailto:studiosysadmins-discuss-request@studiosysadmins.com?subject=unsubscribe

Custom SNG car, with Wifi acsess point.

By Andreas Martin Aanerud - Good day! I just got a new funny project, and where just wondering if anyone have some same ideas. we are building a new SNG car, but instead of using "broadcast" quality SNG we are looking into the Aviwest DMNG 180. It?s a "ok" box that does HDSDI to Wifi, 4G, 3G and so on. but the main thing, it trans codes the HDSDI to a Unicast stream to our offices. So the connections is HDSDI --> Streaming DNMG180 --> Wifi AP --> BEGAN SNG ---> Internett. anyone have tried this ? any ideas for the Access point, "the most powerful ever" ? DRI on server based video cards

By Todd Smith -
Hey all,

We've been upgrading our OS infrastructure and it looks like in more recent kernel versions, DRI for server based video cards appears to be quite difficult to get working properly.

I've read inklings that DRI for several kernel drivers was taken out in Mesa 7.x

Anyone else running into this?

Thanks,

Todd Smith

Reading x,y colour values on Linux

By Stephen Willey - We use ArgyllCMS to calibrate our monitors on Linux. Using it I can read the calibrated whitepoint with the following command: dispcal -v2 -V -F -r However what I'm looking for is a command that lets me read x,y values for R,G,B and White instead of just white. By Martin Greenwood - I'm staying in LA for a few weeks so if anyone is interested in using LTO+LTFS for media archive then please get in touch. Our product YoYottaID runs on OSX, but the idea is that the archive is open and cross platform. We also develop YoDailies for media workflow, so if you would like to know more about all the new codecs for cameras like the Sony F5/F55 I can help out. Let me know and I can visit you or if you come over to Venice where I'm staying I'll buy you a beer!
