Anyone know a trick for extracting from a tar file starting at a known byte-offset inside the file?
I've got a very large (>1TB) .tar created by Time Navigator and the regular restore methods aren't working. I've dd'ed the tapefile off, but since the file i want is 600GB deep, it takes a long-ass time to even TRY extracting it.
I have the byte offset from the TiNa catalog, so does anyone know a trick for cutting right to the chase & not having to read the first 600GB?
