Concept - LTFS?
posted by Dan Young on Nov. 12, 2013, 11:55 p.m. (6 days ago)
Really basic stuff here, but I'm not as versed with ultra modern-backup/archival at the moment.

I guess what I'm interested in is archival, but to leave that topic alone, effectively what I'm after is;

- a single-loader LTO (ideally 6, acceptable 5) that can be compatible, and properly so with 10.8 MacOSX
- IDEALLY thunderbolt, acceptably SAS and the iMac this is intended for will have an external PCI cardcage over thunderbolt
- ability to support using TAPES as if they were any regular old FILESYSTEM

Is LTFS really want I'm interested in? Or is it all just a bit more simple than that? I won't be needing software, I effectively want 1.6tb LTO tapes to run as if they were harddrives when they're loaded in the single loader.

Cheers,
DY
