So if you have 100 instances of the license and you would like ten more. First launch the plugin in on 100 machines and wait for a license unavailable message!

Oh sure, it sounds crazy when you put it that way.  But why do you have 100 licenses if you're not using them?

From the DCPFLICS help file (licensing mechanism used by FumeFX):

Incrementing Licenses

Once you've authorized your ACAP plug-in tool, if you purchase additional licenses in the future that you would like to add to your DCPFLICS server so that they are all kept in one location, please do the following:

  1. On a workstation with 3ds Max and the ACAP plug-in (that does NOT have the DCPFLICS Server on it), launch 3ds Max and open the plug-in so it's Interface is open. This will effectively request the license from the server so that it is "in use".
  2. On the computer where the DCPFLICS server is located, launch 3ds Max and try to access the plug-in you would like to increment the licenses for.

By default, you will get the DCPFLICS authorization dialog and a message saying that all licenses are in use. This is what you want.

  1. Now, click Authorize within the DCPFLICS dialog, and choose whether you'd like to register online or manually.
  2. In the resulting form that appears, when you are prompted for your Serial Number, enter BOTH serial numbers separated by a comma. (i.e. ABC1234X, DEF5678Y)
====

So really, I'm expected to install and run 3DS Max on my license server just to install a new license? That would have to be my "fail of the week".
