At this point in my life, the only thing I use Java for are those horrible GUIs you use to configure your storage, networking and blade chassis gear. As of 7u51, it seems that for most of our gear, you end up having to fiddle with Java security settings and click through all sorts of alarmist popups for 30 minutes before you can make any of these Java apps run, if you manage to do so at all. I guess Java has finally collapsed under the weight of its insecurity and the myriad of band aids that have since been applied to it. Now where's that Linksys switch with a UI that requires Active X and IE6? JF |
