Hello, I’m hoping someone can help here. We are migrating data from one storage solution to another (from a Blue Arc to Pixit/GPFS) and I had to very quickly move about 25-30 TB of data. I managed to move everything but 4.5 TB onto EMC/Isilon Storage. The reason why I wasn’t able to move the remaining 4.5TB over is because it would have filled our Isilon completely up and there was no other Raid to put anything on (believe
me.. everything is full and I was archiving to LTO Tape as fast as humanly possible). I had to come with a solution very quickly and noticed that we had a free RocketRaid 2640X4 card sitting around doing nothing. I decide to use this as I knew that I needed to get data moving ASAP or else we would have to push back the
install date for our GPFS system (wasn’t an option for us for several factors). I know that this isn’t the most expensive/reliable Raid card, but I managed to get a Raid 5 array up with no problem... giving me 9TB to work with. I installed this in a Windows 7 workstation (RAID was formatted NTFS) and the copy took a while, but no problems at all. The Pixit/GPFS Cluster is installed and up and running.. when I went back to my Win 7 box to copy the data back onto
the new storage I couldn’t see the Raid and I noticed the following when I looked at the card (please see attached file). My heart sank. Does anyone had any advice on how to recover this data? Can anyone suggest any services in the London area? I really need to get this data back. All data originally copied to our Isilon is currently happily copying over to the Pixit/GPFS
system, will take a few days.. but no problem at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance Jeremy |
