So, when looking at render gear, it's always a PITA to figure out what CPU to spec it with. I just did a little Google Doc to get a vague estimate of bang for the buck with current Xeons. I imagine others have done better calculations, but AFAICT, if anybody asks the current best value is the 2630v3. (Ignoring licenses and such, just in terms of the actual hardware) It shifts around depending on the spend for the other components. If you want to take a look for yourself, go nuts: |
