Hello, I'm writing an article for Seekscale company blog (www.seekscale.com), about the use of Linux in VFX, to help the portion of our audience who is using windows understand what is at stake when switching to linux.
I have a few questions, and all comments are most welcome.
1- What are the criterias/arbitrages to choose a Linux distribution? I guess that each distro has its pros and cons, and we would like to lay out a sum up of the arbitrage you have to make when picking a linux distro 2- I guess that the biggest interest of Linux is to be able to develop custom software. When a studio is growing, according to you what is the criteria or metric beyond which linux must be considered? Is it for example when you start having custom shaders or renderer? Thanks! We are writing an article about the VFX reference platform, and we want to speak about it in a broader context, to inform windows users of the pros and cons, the stakes, of a linux transition. |
