Linux boot visibility using DisplayPort? | ||||||

Hi We have some DisplayPort KVM switches which allow certain artists to have access to both a Mac Pro (2014) and a CentOS 6.x box (on zX00/z420-series HP with nVidia Q/K4000 graphics). The Mac Pro forces use of DisplayPort across the board (there are no mixed DP/DVI switches), so i can't cable up DVI from the nVidia card, which is the only gfx port active during Linux boot. CentOS doesn't know what to do with DisplayPort until it's fully into graphics runlevel so POST and boot sequence are invisible - you just have to cross your fingers everything's going to complete. Neither OSX or Windows (iirc) have any problems driving DP during boot. Any idea where the deficiency lies? Linux kernel driver (or lack thereof is my guess)? HP BIOS? Both? thanks! - cal@bluebolt To unsubscribe from the list send a blank e-mail to mailto:studiosysadmins-discuss-request@studiosysadmins.com?subject=unsubscribe |
