Rendering on MacPro.. hot
posted by Grant Fraser on June 12, 2015, 6:35 p.m. (1 day ago)
I've being running some tests with rendering (VRay) on the new MacPros. Everything works fine with the Macs performing equal to comparative PCs. We would like to use the Macs for night time rendering however the 3D guys are worried about the temperature the Mac are running at. After a few hours the amount of heat coming from the top of the machine is quite a lot and it takes a while to cool down after rendering. We are using Caffine to stop the machines sleeping (which they will do even if a render is happening). Anyone else tried this? Could the heat effect the life of the machine?
