Hi all, first time poster.
We are a smaller boutique shop (7 suites running FCP/AE/Maya/C4D) ... all mac. We recently installed a small linux farm for Maya renders and now the artists are wanting something for After Effects. We are currently running CS5 and will bypass CS5.5 (with it's license issues) and eventually go straight to CS6.
I searched past posts and saw references to plugins/fonts/render managers but was wondering if any of you could share your experiences and advice concerning:
- OSX versus Windows ... we are probably going to go out and get some more used Dell 1950 servers ... don't know if we even can hackintosh these with OSX Lion
- watch folder vs render manager ... I think I know the answer to this one (render manager) but was wondering if anyone actually used watch folders
- general comments on success with AE on a farm
thanks, Mark
