We're going to be moving into a new space in the near future and are taking the opportunity for a fresh start in terms of building up the networking aspect of our gear. Just wanted to get some feedback/thoughts/ideas in regards to Brocade vs Juniper, or if there might be another option I'm not considering.
Server Room: Brocade VDX6740T as a core switch (80G to main closet) Main Closet: Brocade VDX6740T (80G to core switch) + Brocade ICX7450-48 (10gbe uplink to VDX) This would yield 48x 1gbe, 16x 10gbe on closet VDX, 16x 10gbe on core VDX. Total Cost: ~$33k (including optics, etc), if we go refurb, closer to ~$20k
I've looked into a Juniper solution: Server Room: EX4550-32T-AFI as a core switch (2x 80G to main closet) Main Closet: 2x EX4550-32T-AFO (80G uplinks to core switch) + repurpose existing 48x 1gbe switch This would yield 64x 10gbe ports at the main closet. Total Cost: ~$20k (including optics, etc)
Thanks in advance. |
