After Effects 14.2.1 Render Fails with OCIO
posted by Tom S. on Oct. 27, 2017, 3:01 p.m.

We are having an issue with rendering Windows After Effects using AE version 14.2.1 with OCIO.

We updated our render farm from 14.1 to 14.2.1. Now comps won't render in render mode.

The comps can be opened and rendered locally on Windows workstations running AE 14.2.1.

But if we submit to the render farm, the job fails. We are currently using Deadline 8. Here's the Deadline log entries when it fails.

2017-10-27 10:00:28: 0: STDOUT: has video RAM(MB): 0 2017-10-27 10:00:31: 0: INFO: Checking for file "C:\Users\rendernode\Documents\ae_render_only_node.txt" 2017-10-27 10:00:31: 0: INFO: Attempting to delete "C:\Users\rendernode\Documents\ae_render_only_node.txt" to allow After Effects to run in the workstation enviroment

2017-10-27 10:00:31: 0: STDOUT: aerender ERROR An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

2017-10-27 10:00:31: 0: STDOUT: : Unable to receive at line 314

If we try to run the render command

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2017\Support Files\aerender.exe" -project "Q:\XXX\XXX104\Scripts\XXX104_043_030\Comp\FinalComp\AfterEffects\XXX104_043_030_v001-JWS.aep" -comp "XXX104_043_030_comp_v001" -s 1002 -e 1002 -sound OFF -close DO_NOT_SAVE_CHANGES

We get the following error

aerender version 14.2.1x34 Using DXGI: Device: "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" has dedicated video RAM (MB): 0 has video RAM(MB): 16

LoadLibrary "n" failed!

LoadLibrary "n" failed!

aerender ERROR An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Unable to receive at line 314

Where is the file that contains "line 314" ?

Anyone have any ideas?
