Hey All I just heard last night that the
Animae Caribe Animation and Digital Media Festival, the Caribbeans? biggest and
most prestigious animation festival, just had a cancellation from their main
speaker (who was to be the makers of ParaNorman - Laika). The festival takes
place on the island of Trinidad (which is where I'm from!) I was speaking to the
creative director of the festival and she gave me the following
information:
The festival (http://www.animaecaribe.com/) is now
searching for a replacement speaker for the event which takes place from the
31st October to 5th November 2012. Past speakers have been from such companies
as Disney, ToonBoom, Aardman, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and productions
such as Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, The Simpsons, etc.
With people's schedules the way they are, the
speaker would just have to be able to make it anytime during the dates of the
event. And Animae Caribe will provide airfare, accomodation,
breakfast, some meals, and even throw in a day in Tobago - the jewel of the
Caribbean (http://www.mytobago.info/introduction.php).
(This island has changed has 33 times - its that cool!) Unfortunately due to
their limited budget they are unable to provide a stipend.
The speaker would participate in a forum/ workshop/
presentationto depending on what they're interested in doing.
If you know anyone at Pixar (or
elsewhere) who might be interested either let me know asap or forward this
on to them. Obviously its pretty short notice but, hey, who in this industry
can't do with a five day vacation on a Caribbean island huh?
<hehe>
Thanks!
Sunil
