Not sure if you all got this, but thought It was worth letting you all know just in case.
"An important alert for our Mac-based Shotgun clients: The new Java update (Java for OS X 2012-006) can leave you without operable Java on Mac, which will mean you will not be able to use the Local File Linking feature in Shotgun. Tank also depends on Java for its browser integration features. We recommend that our clients *not* install this new update.
All the update does is remove the OSX distributed version of Java, after installing the update you can then navigate to
Grab the v7.09 update install, restart your browser and continue as usual - with the exception that the browser will now give you a nice big warning dialog that you are using java and that something bad may be waiting around the corner if you do, you can turn that message off for any domain by clicking one of those text box thingies.
I use a lot of crappy java based software as an admin (unfortunately, I'm trying hard to move away from it), I haven't had any problems so far since upgrading and reinstalling Java.
