Description:

This position is for an IT / Engineering Manager to provide suuport and systems administration for Digital TV production groups. The role includes operational support a spart of a global support team mananing Apple storage, editing servers and clients using Final cut pro. Includes Media asset management and workflow design and optimisation for file ingest, transcoding, archiving and restoration. works closely with business units to understand changing needs, priorities and schedules and ensures that a high level of day to day support, incident management and resolution and solutions design and implementation is undertaken. The role is part of a global team and there is an expectation that some of the projects and activities and BAU supportundertaken as part of this rolewill require participation and cooperation at this level. At a local level tis role is part of a studio based and broadcast television operation and as such broader areas of support are required especially as cover for leave and sickness and pro-activeapproach knowledge transfer is required. Finally operational hours may vary as business priorities and programming schedules change and out of hours or weekend system/software upgrades demand onsite IT/engineering support presence. This is an ongoing and expected part of the positions responsiblities.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Fork ingest, troubleshooting and maintenance. All Xsan components maintenance, fine-tuning, defragging, monitoring. Archiving and restoring of production media. Asset management ( automated tagging/logging, metadata mirroring from CMS, metadata transfer to Rcom). Support of all file-based delivery workflows: CMS, Rcom, Wne, Digital Signage, West Law, inter-bureaus asset delivery. Editing systems support and user training. Espected to be familiar with Video and TV systems including: Apple XSan, Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Final Cut Server, Telestream Episode Engine, Archiware Prestore, B4M Fork, Digital Rapids, Promise vTrak Raids, Active Storage Raids, Qlogic Fibre Switches

Additional Information:
Shift work may be applicable, after hours and weekend work will be required as needed
Qualifications

Education:

Degree level in a related discipline

Required Skills:

5 to 10 years experience in the following or closely related technology: Apple Xsan, Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Final Cut Server, Apple Xservers, Mac Pros and MacBooks, Telestream Episode Engine, Archiware Prestore, B4M Fork, Digital Rapids, Promise vTrak Raids, Active Storage Raids, Qlogic Fibre switches.

Desired Skills:

Studio and broadcast television experience, vision mixers, audio mixers, flash media servers and iNews.

Any Certifications Required:

Apple system administrator and Final Cut Pro support proffesional certifications desired
