Why switch?

I like Centos front and backend.

Some one here asked about services, the Centos/RHEL directory server is cool, LDAP/Java based.

Personally I think its silly to be biast as in the end they're all a POS.  The choice depends on both desired sw and management tools being/to be used.

You guys brushed on this a little already so....

We are evaluating switching from windows 7 to Centos/Fedora/Ubuntu for
    our artist machines.

    Main Software packages.

We do have some photoshop/AE but I'll just keep around some windows
    machines for that. I have a windows 2008 R2 data/ADDS/DHCP/DNS server
and a CentOS 5.5 data server. I will eventually just end up switching
everything to some version of linux, I just don't know what yet.
Pipeline guys yell at me for having a windows server anywhere near the
building. So what are people here using for there artist machine OS for
    similar software usage?

    Anthony
