I was having no end of trouble getting the dedicated IPMI network port to work on some SuperMicro servers until I ran across the following: Turns out you can also configure this property through the web interface (assuming it is up and running in "passthrough mode" on the first Ethernet port and you can actually get to it), but sending "raw" IPMI commands with ipmicfg made me feel all powerful.
