Migrate, but use of the FiberChannel Network.

The new job, got me some new challenges, and I love it, but a small question where raised.

They are today using a FC Apple Xsan, with a Active Storage shelf, and a Qlogic FC switch.

its Atto 4gbit FC cards on the clients, so not quite fast, but good enough for our use. (AE Projects)

So for an upgrade of Storage, I did contact Active Storage, and they offered a SAS expander, but they also said that we only could expand with one SAS shelf. so thats a bit short, for our expansion ideas.

Then a solution I though of where FreeNAS / Nexentra setup with an ISCSI Share to the AppleXsan, and then do the Xsan sharing.

Its sounds so sketchy that I shivered by thinking of it, but it might do the trick.

Does anyone have a similar solution, or hopefully a better ?
