Hello,
I'm looking for a storage system for a small studio setup with the following requirements off top of head:
- will be connected to 2-3 workstations, 4 max. Say 2 Mac Pros and 2 Win7 boxen.
- used primarily as a shared workspace for AE/Premiere work using Epic .r3d's
- Sequential throughput and capacity most important, along with some level of fault tolerance of course
- would like to keep it under $7500 not including backup
- needs to reside in an office environment so size and loudness is a consideration
I have been looking at the SynologyDS3612xs. Can pair it with 12x 4TB drives and 10GbE for ~7500 US for ~24TB usable if we RAID 10 it. (napkin-quality math at this point).
Also someone mentioned the upcoming OWC Jupiter which looks good on paper and should be out any day. Trying to get an eval.
Any thoughts? Experience with the DS3612xs?
Thanks
Doug
